Nevada Travel Guide

Nevada is the entertainment capital of the world and one of the top places to travel in the country. This is due, in no small part, to the famous city of Las Vegas. Known for its world-renowned restaurants, incredible live shows, legendary nightlife, and high-class casinos, a trip to Vegas won’t disappoint.

There’s far more to Nevada than the Vegas Strip, however.

This state is also filled with natural beauty. You’ll be amazed by the otherworldly landscapes of Valley of Fire State Park, less than an hour’s drive from Las Vegas. Escape the lights of the city at Great Basin National Park where you’ll find rugged mountains, underground caves, some of the oldest trees on Earth, and one of the darkest night skies in the country. Still not convinced? Take a drive up to Lake Tahoe, one of the purest lakes in the world, for some remarkable scenery on the border between Nevada and California. You may even pass by Area 51 on the way, so be on the lookout for UFOs!

Best Time to Visit

SUMMER
The summer heat throughout most of the state can be intense. For northern areas, like Great Basin National Park, summers are much milder and are a great time to visit.

AUTUMN
September through November is an excellent time to visit Nevada! Temperatures are warm but comfortable, and winter crowds haven’t quite made their way in yet. Northern areas even see fall colors!

WINTER
The winter months bring pleasant winter weather to most of Nevada, so this is a good time to visit weather-wise. This is the peak tourist season in Las Vegas, however, so expect larger crowds and higher prices. Winter in some northern areas can get quite cold and actually see some snow.

SPRING
March through May is shoulder season in Nevada. This is a great time to visit before the summer heat and after the winter crowds.
